I acknowledge and honor that I reside and work on traditional territory of  the Sinixt, the Syilx, and the Ktunaxa peoples. I am a settler. My family origins are Finnish, settling in Mattawa, Ontario, in the early 1920s, and British, settling in Jasper, Alberta, in the 1920s and 1950s. I have been in Nelson since 2015, and value acknowledging how beautiful this land is, and I am grateful to be able to do my counselling work here.

I acknowledge the forced removal and genocide of the Indigenous people of this territory. I very much look up to the Indigenous people of our country, for their resilience and strength they continue to exhibit.
